Hermes Leather Forever Exhibition @ Shanghai

Squeezed some free time from my Shanghai trip to visit the Hermes Leather Forever Exhibition held at Shanghai. Heard from their PR that this is the first time they organize an exhibition on Leather goods.  

I always love to go to Hermes exhibitions and events cos they really really put a lot of effort and creativity each time, from large scale exhibition to private small gathering and even seasonal accessories presentation, it's always full of surprise, amazing and inspiring.  I'll still impressed by the Once Upon A Silk Exhibtion they held in Pacific Place a few years ago! And of cos their SS10 Accessories Presentation held in Chai Wan (hope I can find back some photos and post it here later).

The exhibition was held at an old building 准海中路 near香港廣場.  It's great as always... but can be better for Hermes (maybe I expect too much, but it's still great and much much better compare to lots of other fashion brands exhibition).  Lots of details on their leather goods and handbags including new and vintage pieces, with lots of iconic pieces like Kelly, Birkin and Constance.  Gigantic Kelly Bag welcomes u at the entrance.  Be sure to take the booklet with u and read along when visiting the exhibition, cos u can understand the pieces and exhibition much more.  As for the ear set, music and sound only, if u have time, enjoy it then, otherwise forget it!

Recommend u all to visit the exhibition cos u can understand much more on the brands, craftmanship and their bags.  Exhibition till 31 Oct and entrance fee is free.  After the exhibition, the whole building will be renovated into a Maison Hermes which is expected to open in 2012...Look so forward!!

  

Meeting Tony Leung @ Calibre de Cartier Shanghai Party

I'm really really honoured and lucky to meet 2 of my favourite popstars these few weeks in Shanghai, one is Lee Hom Wang and the other one is...TONY LEUNG梁朝偉!!!! Thx Cartier for inviting us to the Calibre de Cartier Shanghai Party last week and got the chance to meet this not just Asia but International Popstar!

Though I've met him many years ago at Louis Vuitton Pacific Place Store Opening, I still feel very nervous and exciting, and this time I sit very close to him which makes my heart keeps on beating heavily and heavily...

Tony was really really a very nice and casual guy and he was really funny in answering the questions. All the Hong Kong media were having a great time with him.  I guess many of us including did want to take a photo with him, hehee...

Chanel Icerberg VS Cassette

This wasn't anything new, or I'm too outdated in this issue, anyway ...
Found this Chanel Iceberg Clutch while preparing a Chanel FW 10 feature, immediately reminds me of the cassette clutch that they did, well well well not this SS 10, but since 2003!!! Kaiser Karl did that in 2003 and relaunched it again this SS2010.  I remember when the cassette clutch first launched in 2003 it created such a huge buzz and all the local medias are fighting/queueing up for photo shooting, including me!

I couldn't say the iceberg or the cassette clutch is better, same concept but different styles in some ways.

H&M X Lanvin Video Vol.4~6

I truly truly love the idea of having a series of video explaning the whole collection and process, u got to know and understood much much more about that.

Albert Albaz said he will re-create some iconice designs in this collection, I still remember that blue/black pleated dress he did in his first collection for Lanvin, wish I can see that again and buy them at a fraction of price this time!

Kim Jones Stepping Down as Alfred Dunhill Creative Director

Got an email entltied 'Urgent Annoucement from Kim Jones' from A.D. PR this morning, can smell something fishy already.
hm...suprised yet also not surprised, Kim Jones work for dunhill wasn't very impressing. I understood his difficulties, continue the heritage of the brand while trying to blend new elements into it. 

Who will be the next guy? Another menswear designer from UK again?


Official annoucement from Alfred Dunhill:
Alfred Dunhill Ltd. today announce that Kim Jones will be stepping down as Creative Director after 2½ years in the role.


Christopher Colfer, Alfred Dunhill C.E.O., “Kim has made a valuable contribution to the creative development of Alfred Dunhill over the past 2½ years. His collections have been both commercial and greatly appreciated and therefore we are sorry to see him go but his departure is in line with the original planning and strategy for the brand. We wish him the very best in his future creative endeavours”

Kim Jones, “I would like to thank all at dunhill, especially my creative team, for the last 2 ½ years and I am looking forward to announcing future projects shortly as well as publishing two books.”

Found My FW Camel Coat

Camet Coat mania happens in the fashion world this season, u can found camel coat or jacket in almost women's or even men's brand.  Have been looking for a nice and budget camel coat since last season. Saw quite a few camel coat in Zara b4 but the camel colour wasn't that 'camel', or the cutting is too big, and...

finally found one in my most most favourite brand H&M (yes again!). Boxy straight yet slim cut,  not as those big big coat that H&M did in the past, size 32 or 34 fits well on my 5ft3 slim body.  The coat got a leather string on the waist but i think it looks nice and clean without it.  Most importantly, it's just $799, still have stock in the store now!!

Nicholas Kirkwood X Keith Haring high heels

There have been too much Keith Haring collaboration/special edition products that makes no suprise to me anymore, until last week went to Nicholasl Kirkwood personal appearace @ On Pedder Central, and his Keith Haring collection world's 'premiere', saw this Nicholas Kirkwood X Keith Haring Crawling Baby high heels, oh wow how stunning!!!  Never thought of such interpretation of Keith Haring art piece, crawling baby as the heels!

Truly appreciate the creativity of Nicholas Kirkwood, and his famous artistic and fun approach on shoes design, and of cos as always playing with the heels. 

Now just wonder how the ladies are going to walk on this heels!

VALENTINO will join forces with Gap this winter to create an affordable womenswear capsule collection designed by the creative directors Maria Grazia Chiui and Pier Paolo Piccioli.

On the heels of the announcement this week that Lanvin's Alber Elbas has collaborated with H&M, the launch of the Valentino high street collection will coincide with Gap's new Milan flagship store in late November - before being available at Dover Street Market in London, Colette in Paris as well as Gap's flagship store in London.

"We are very pleased that Gap thought of us as a partner for this intimate project, as it brings together the iconic world of Valentino and Gap's fashion essentials," Chiuri and Piccioli said. "In this way, Valentino and Gap synthesise the current trend of combining luxury with basics."

While perhaps not as widely known for its high designer partnerships as H&M,Gap has in the past worked with Pierre Hardy - for a capsule collection in 2009 - as well as Stella McCartney for a sell-out childrenswear line.

"We're thrilled to be welcomed by the house of Valentino, with its unique position in Italy's fashion heritage and to work with Maris Grazia and Pier Paolo, and their modern, fresh take on women's style," president of Gap in Europe, Stephen Sunnucks, said of the partnership.

Louis Vuitton Cruise 2011 Preivew

Location does work..esp in HK where it's hard to find a nice and unique location for fashion show and events.  The mightly Louis Vuitton found a very special location - a nice seaside luxury house at Tai Tam Road near Stanley to host their Cruise 2011 Collection Preview this afternoon. Well I admit that I was curious and attracted by the location and wanna take a peep on it..hehee.... :P 
The location and of cos the collection was really nice..very 60's and 70's style with lots of vibrant colours and prints, reminds me of 寶珠 and芳芳姐 and all those old movies and tv drama.  Not much on the handbags collection, my favourite one was a colour stripe clutch 'box' made by Mother of Pearl, simple but really stands out! gotta be another red carpet hit item!

What a nice sea view of the house!! matches so well with the cruise theme.

Lanvin呢, 由他第一季的Pleats裙開始已對他留下深刻印象, 出自YSL這大師, 果然是高徒, 從沒有擁有過一件Lavin服飾, 直到今年暑假在Isetan發現其副線Lanvin et Blue大減價, 千幾蚊條裙, 五百幾一個手袋, 買買買!! 所以今次H&M X Lanvin, 雙劍合壁, 真係不得了! 期待他的裙子, 還有出色的Costume Jewelry, 唔知到時會不會將其著名的Ballerinas帶到H&M呢?
